FLUID-APPLIED ROOF COATINGS
Roof Protection & Longevity
A roof doesn't always need to be torn off and replaced to restore its performance. When an existing roof is a good candidate for restoration, a fluid-applied roof coating system can protect the existing roofing assembly, address vulnerable areas, and extend the service life of the roof—without the disruption of a full tear-off.
At All Wall Contracting, we begin every coating project with a thorough evaluation of the existing roof. As part of the warranty process, we work with a manufacturer representative to evaluate the roof and determine whether a coating system is appropriate. Based on that evaluation, the manufacturer develops a project-specific specification outlining the preparation and coating system required for the selected warranty.
Protecting the Existing Roof
Our coating systems are designed to create a continuous protective layer over suitable existing roofing substrates. Depending on the roof and the selected system, coatings can help:
Protect the existing roof from weather and UV exposure
Restore and protect aging roofing substrates
Seal seams, terminations, and penetrations
Protect metal roofing from continued corrosion
Reduce moisture intrusion when properly installed
Provide a renewed, durable roofing surface without a full tear-off
Extend the useful service life of an existing roof
Our most commonly installed systems are acrylic- and silicone-based coatings from GAF and Sherwin-Williams. These systems can be applied to a variety of existing roof assemblies, including older tar emulsion systems, cap sheets, lap and corrugated metal roofing, EPDM, aged TPO, and previously applied coating systems.
Preparation Is the Foundation
A long-lasting coating system begins with proper preparation. Before coating begins, we evaluate the existing roof and address conditions that could compromise the finished system.
Our preparation process may include:
Moisture scanning to identify saturated or damaged areas within the roofing assembly
Replacement of saturated substrate or insulation when necessary
Environmentally responsible cleaning and pressure washing of the roof
Three-course detailing at seams, terminations, and penetrations using coating, reinforced fabric, and coating
Priming where required, including bleed-blocking, rust-inhibitive, or TPO bonding primers
Base coating when required by the specified system
Application of the final topcoat(s)
This attention to preparation and detail helps ensure that the coating system performs as intended and meets the requirements of the selected manufacturer's warranty.
A Long-Term Approach to
Roof Performance
Our goal isn't simply to apply a coating and walk away. We want to provide a roofing solution that makes sense for the condition of the existing roof and the needs of the building owner.
When the existing roof is a suitable candidate, a fluid-applied coating system can provide years of additional service while helping owners avoid the cost, disruption, and waste associated with a full roof replacement.
